Scotland

The motherland of whiskey, Scotland is the ultimate destination for a whiskey lover. Made by distilling malted barley, Scotland produces many of the world’s famous whiskeys. The country is full of distilleries that offer tours and also rugged bars with spectacular backdrop

  • Speyside: This place is whiskey heaven with more than 50 distilleries including the famous Glenlivet and Glenfiddich. Follow the world’s famous Malt Whisky Trail comprising nine must visit sites including Dallas Dhu historic distillery and Speyside Cooperage.
  • Islay: Celebrated as the Whisky Island of Scotland, Islay is home to some of the world’s best whiskey including Lagavulin, Ardbeg, and Laphroaig. As of now, Islay has 8 active distilleries spread across the island.

America

Birthplace of some of the world’s leading whiskeys, America is known and beloved for its whiskey.

  • Kentucky: This small rural state is the manufacturer of the widely known Bourbon; visit the Kentucky Bourbon Trail to see some large and small distilleries.
  • Tennessee: Maker of the world-bestselling American whiskey Jack Daniel, this place is a must visit. Take a tour to the Jack Daniel’s distillery in Lynchburg; slightly ahead is another whiskey distillery, George Dickel, which also offers tours.

Ireland

Known as the first distillers in the British Isles but lost the touch for years until regained now, today the Irish whiskey has its own imprint in the whiskey world with products such as Jamesons, Bushmills, and Tullamore Dew. With merely three operational distilleries, Ireland still offers its whiskey rich and in a variety of styles and production methods including double, triple, and pot distillation.

Canada

With some borrowed characteristics from Scotch Whiskey and Bourbon, the Canadian whiskey still outshines with its unique style, method of production, and the melodious influence of rye. The light and very flavorful whiskey made from rye is popular worldwide, some leading brands include Royal, Canadian Club, and Seagram’s.

India

In spite India being one of the largest whiskey consumers in the world, its whiskey is not considered optimal by the EU legislation. Despite that fact, India is still the producer of 8 of the top 10 bestselling whiskies in the world.
